As I write this note I feel like I am updating people who already know what happened yesterday, because there were so many people that came out to show their support to David and his family yesterday for Coach Luby’s day off that I feel like all of you were there. The weather was great, as were the signs, the kind words, and even some old school rap music that a few people rolled up in. I was planning on keeping track of all of the donations for the magnets and the raffle, but after about 5 minutes I realized that was going to be impossible. It seemed like you all planned out when you were going to come, because it never got overwhelmingly crowded and was a steady flow of people the whole time. People were able to take socially distant pictures with David, Jennifer and the girls, and I did not see one person without a mask so fingers crossed that everyone remains safe. Between your donations and Kona Ice donating 75% of their proceed instead of the 20% we had asked for it was a great start for the foundation with much more than I could have imagined. The winner of the raffle was Andrew Engel who immediately offered to regift the winnings back to the foundation, but we insisted he enjoy his $150 shopping spree.
I cannot thank each and every one of you who came yesterday enough for your generosity. There was not one member of our family that was not touched by the outpouring of support, and I know none of us will forget yesterday. As Ferris would say “Life Moves Pretty Fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while you could miss it” I feel like we all did that yesterday. Thanks Again!!!!!
