David returned home from the hospital within hours of posting the December 23rd update. Since then, he was accepted at a clinical trial at NIH, and started treatment on January 6th. The trial includes chemotherapy and PARP inhibiters. The chemotherapy consists of one 5-hour treatment every two weeks, and the PARP inhibitors are taken orally at home.
The trial will last as long as David’s body is able to handle the treatment, or until the doctors start to see improvement. David will have scans every two months to check for progress. So far David is tolerating the treatment well. He is fatigued and has bouts of nausea, but is positive, hopeful, and excited to be part of the trial.
This week David has a follow up appointment with the brain radiologist, and next month he will have a brain MRI to determine the effectiveness of the radiation completed in December.
The Lubitz’s continue to be so appreciative of all the cards, care packages, emails and texts. Each one has put a smile on their faces. David and Jen ask for everyone’s understanding if they are not able to respond back to each person, and want to again say thank you for the endless support.
