I don’t usually pay much attention to National ….. Days, and was planning on letting October 6th big celebrations of National Noodle Day and National Transfer Money to Your Daughter Day go by like the rest. Fortunately, I did happen upon the fact that October 6th is also National Coaches Day, and I thought that was the perfect time to formally appeal for Board Members for the Coach Luby Foundation. National Coaches Day was originally established to highlight the fact that “Coaches are highly qualified teachers in highly specialized fields. But more than that, they are friends and counselors who help instill in their players important attitudes that will serve them all their lives”, and that certainly sounds like what David did and we want to do more of this around the community.
It has been my honor to head things up for the first two years, and by no means am I am planning to step away from the foundation, but I know I need help with fresh ideas and some go getters who can help this foundation do even more for the community in growing youth sports. We have already done some great things, but we need some help in turning the ideas we have or taking some great new ideas and turning them into reality. The community has been so generous, and we want to find more ways to spend that money. Whether it is in coaching or advancing any aspect of youth sports no idea is a bad one and I think we can really continue to grow from what we have already started. This would also not be limited to just soccer. We would not be asking for a huge time commitment. Initially, I am thinking a zoom meeting of no longer than an hour once a month to start and very quickly turning that into quarterly meetings. If you feel like you may just have some ideas, but don’t want to commit to being a board member please feel free to sending those my way also.
Thanks Again to everyone out there who has contributed your time and money already and we look forward to growing Coach Luby’s message
